The weekend of July 17th and 18th the Almaden Lightning had 5 teams participating in the Wess Jones Memorial Tournament hosted by the South San Jose Softball League. When all was said and done on Sunday, the Almaden Lightning once again displayed the depth of their organization by having 4 teams playing in the Championship Game.

The 12UB team posted a 5-1 record for the weekend losing only 1 pool game to the Pleasanton Phantom. The Almaden Lightning returned the favor in the Championship Game defeating the Phantom by the score of 7-3. Over the course of the weekend, the Almaden Lightning had 4 girls hit home runs to boost their team to the championship.

The 10UB team posted a 4-1 record for the weekend. They went undefeated in Saturday's pool play and entered Sunday as the #1 seed in their pool. The team was able to advance to Sunday's Championship Game, and finished the tournament as the 2nd place winner.

The 10UC team went undefeated for the weekend posting a 6-0 record. The strength of the team was evident in that 4 of the 6 games were stopped early by the tournament's "mercy rule". In the 3 tournament play games on Sunday, the team scored 26 runs while allowing only 3. This was the final tournament of the summer for this team. They finished the summer on a high note by defeating the Pleasanton Phantom in the Championship Game by the score of 9-0.

The 8UB team posted a 4-1 record for the weekend. They went undefeated in Saturday's pool play. The team was able to advance to Sunday's Championship Game, and finished the tournament as the 2nd place winner.

Almaden Lightning 10UC Participates in ASA Junior Olympic California State Championship Tournament!

The Almaden Lightning 10UC Thomas Team traveled to San Diego, CA to participate in the 3 day event on July 9th, 10th, and 11th. A total of 17 teams participated in the tournament. These teams represented some of the best teams to be found in California. Our Almaden Lightning team did well finishing tied for 5th place overall, losing two very close games to teams from Southern California.

Our organization is %100 volunteer, and this trip would not have been possible without the financial assistance provided by our sponsors. The Almaden Lightning 10UC team would like to thank all their sponsors for their generous donations.

Almaden Lightning 12UB team are 2nd Place Winners!

Almaden Lightning "Electrifies" Pleasanton!

While the 10UC Team traveled to San Diego, the 10UB and 12UB Almaden Lightning Teams traveled to Pleasanton, CA and "electrified" the crowd. Once again, both teams advanced to play in the championship game in their respective divisions.

The 10UB Team won their championship game against the Pleasanton Phantom team. The Phantom had been undefeated all summer and entered the game with a record of 22-0. This was the first time that both teams had faced each other. The Almaden Lightning team jumped out to a quick lead that the Phantom could not close.

The 12UB Team completed the tournament as the 2nd place winner. The team was undefeated in the tournament up until the lose in the championship game to a very good team from Belmont, CA.

"B and C" Championship Tournament!

On June 25th, 26th and 27th the Almaden Lightning participated in the ASA Junior Olympic Northern California "B and C" Championship tournament in Sunnyvale, CA. On the final day of the tournament, the strengh of the Almaden Lightning organization was apparent. Three teams from the Lightning would be playing in the championship game for their division.

The Lightning 12UB, 10UB and 10UC teams battled all weekend long against teams from all over Northern California. When the dust settled, the Almaden Lightning 10UC team went home with a 1st place championship, and both the 12UB and 10UB teams with a 2nd place finish.

More importantly all three teams qualified to advance and participate in other ASA Western Regional Tournaments. The 12UB team will be playing in the ASA Western Regional Championship to be held in Las Cruces, NM the week of August 2nd - 8th. The 10UB team will be playing in the ASA Western Regional Championship to be held in Tuson, AZ the week of August 2nd - 8th. And the 10UC team will be playing in the California State Championship to be held in San Diego, CA on July 9th, 10th, and 11th.

These girls have all done an exceptional job and all of Almaden should be proud. Traveling for these events is expensive and the teams will be holding fund raising activities to help offset the expenses. Shines in Tahoe Tournament!

The weekend of June 19th and 20th the Almaden Lightning 12UB, 10UB and 10UC teams participated in an ASA Junior Olympic "B" Class tournament at Lake Tahoe. The Almaden Lightning teams shined!

The 12UB team won the tournament championship, the 10UB team won second place, and the 10UC team had a very respectable weekend finishing second in their pool winning 2 of 3 pool games.

The 12UB team for the entire tournament was 5-0, scoring 45 runs and allowing only 5. In the championship game, the Lightning recorded 15 strikeouts and allowed only 2 hits.

Strikes in Livermore Tournament!

The weekend of May 29th and 30th the Alamden Lightning participated is a single elimination tournament held in Livermore, Ca. The Almaden Lightning displayed the depth of their organization by winning 1st Place in every division in which they entered a team. The Almaden Lightning also entered two teams in the 10UC and 8U divisions. Each of these second teams took second place. Congratulations to ALL!
